Famous Foods Of Different States In India

As we know india is a muticultural country where people celebrates different kinds of festivals , wear different types of dresses , speak different kind of languages and eats different kinds of foods too. So here we are going to talk about foods and dishes which are marked as famous in different places all over india.

There is a well known saying i.e. "Eat For Live Instead of Living To Eat" this is absolutely true but foodie people will be disagreed with this quote for sure and they should . Actually we should try new things but we need to eat in limits to keep us healthy.

Below are some dishes which are famous in different parts in india.

1. Andhra Pradesh
 
a) Pulihora


Pulihora is made using tamarind rice , spicy flavours , tomato , mustard seeds and curry leaves. Its taste is sour and salty  .

b) Punugulu


Punugulu is acutally a snack of andhra pradesh. It is made using idli batter and is deep fried and is served with coconut and ginger chutney. In short perfect for rainy season.

2.West Bengal 

Bengal is famous for sweetness i mean sweet dishes , here are two sweets originated from bengal.

a)Mishti Doi


Mishti Doi is a sweet dish and is what bengal is famous for. This is actually a sweet yoghurt dish. Those who are found of sweet dishes mishti doi is a must try for them.

b) Sandesh


Another sweet dish originated from bengal .This is made up of khoya and is very beautiful in taste, another must try.

3.Tamil Nadu

We all know tamil nadu has its flavours originated from dishes like idli , vada ,sambhar , dosa ,coconut chutney. These are some which we all know commonly , here are those which are famous in tamil nadu but are uncommon to know.

a)Murukku


The name murukku itself means twisted. This is made using batter of rice flour and urad dal . It is salty in taste and is very famous snack of tamil nadu.

b) Pongal


This is a sweet dish from tamil nadu cooked with sweet milk , rice , cardamom (elaichi),raisins and cashew nuts.This is a festival dish and a traditional belief is also connected with this to cook in sunlight to dedicate it to sun god.

4. Rajasthan

Rajasthan is very famous for their special dishes like dal bati churma , bajre ki khichdi , lahsun ki chutney , gatta , kadi and many more others. Some are here:

a)Dal Bati Churma


Dal Bati Churma as the name suggests is actually a combo of three different dishes.

Dal - Is simple another name of pulse
Bati - Is made up of wheat flour
Churma-Is made of wheat flour, Besan or Bajra.
This is quite a heavy dish on its known as served with a lot of ghee in and out the dish.

b) Ghevar


Ghevar is another famous and exclusive dish of rajasthan. This is a sweet dish and a festive dish too , on the festival of gangaur these are made. Heavy to serve for one person , one ghevar is approximate for 2-3 people on standard size.

5.Punjab.

Punjab is full of punjabis and we all know punjabis are heartfull people and they dont let anyone hungry. They eat with there heart out and make people eat with heart out. Famous dishes of exotic punjab are aloo ka parantha , lassi , and most important makke ko roti and sarso ka saag.

a) Makke ki roti and sarso ka saag


Makke ki roti and sarso ka saag is one of the best food combo ever in the world.
Makke ki roti is made of corn flour and the companion sarso ka saag is made using mustard seeds with lehsun chutney. This is a winter season dish and going to punjab is only worthwhile if you try makke ki roti and sarso ka saag.

b) Chole Bhature


Chole and its companion bhature is another very famous dish of punjab. This is a snack dish originally from punjab but is famous throughout north india. Chole is being added with different spices to get more flavours and bhture is made using white flour (Maida).

6.Maharashtra

a) Pav Bhaji

Pav Bhaji is a very common dish across india but originated from maharashtra.
Pav is a type of bread and bhaji is actually a mash up of different vegetables. This is almost every indian's favourite dish , no one denies to have a bite of this.

b) Vada Pav


Here comes our well known indian version of burger famous as bombay vada pav. A pav with a aloo patty in between and for extra flavours masala is sprinkled and ofcourse one green chilli out there for your tongue to challenge. This is exotic snack throghout india now.

7.Gujarat

Gujarat food has its indelible imprint on ones heart and brain. As gujarati food comes in front your tongue starts drooling.Here are some well known gujarati dishes.

a) Khaman Dhokla 


A very tasty snack originated from gujarat is khaman dhokla or simply known as dhokla throughout india. Made with besan , baking powder steamed and cut into cubes garnished with coriander leaves and served with green chutney.

b) Khandvi


Khandvi is a famous snack dish of gujarat made using besan and rolled up with few spices inside , garnished with coriander leaves and green chilli served with green and coconut chutney.

8.Uttar Pradesh

From kanpuri laddu to banaras paan uttar pradesh is also famous for its distinctive food flavours. It is also known as "Nawabo Ka Shehar" and food styles are also nawabi.Some famous foods are :

a)Shahi Tukda


Shahi Tukda is a very famous dessert , made using deep fried bread dipped into condensed milk , garnished with saffron , cardamom, and nuts.

b)Petha


You must have heard about very famous "Agra Ka Petha".It is just like candy sweet in taste, made using ash gourd.

9.Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand is a hill side area and famous hill station . Here food is cooked using coal and wood so it adds to other natural flavours . Some famous foods here are :

a)Singori

Singori is a famous sweet dish of uttarakhand, made using khoya and served in wrap of Maalu Leaf. 

b)Kandalee Ka Saag


This is just like a vegetable like any other vegetable but its main ingredient is "Bicchu Ghas" which provide the flavour and nutrients to this dish.

10.Delhi

" Delhi Dilwalo Ki" you must have heard that line right !!!!! Prooving it right there are many dishes for which delhi is famous for. Mainly streetfood is very famous in the capital city.

a)Ram Laddoo


Ram Laddoo is a very famous snack dish and has a special place in delhi's street food. These are fritters , garnished with shreds of radish and served with green chutney. These are little spicy in taste.

b)Dahi Bhalle


This is very famous dish in north india , these are fritters served with dahi , green chutney , red chutney and some jeera sprinkle over it . A very famous street food one can't deny .

11.Tripura

a) Mui Borok


Mui Borok is a trafitional dish of Tripura, made using Berma Fish which is dried. This is salty and little spicy in taste .

12.Telangana

Dishes of Telangana are little spicy and salty. There are various famous foods and dishes including karachi biscuits, some are present here:

a)Hyderabadi Biryani


If we talk about famous foods of telangana and don't mention hyderabadi biryani then it will not be justice. Hyderabadi Dum Biryani is cooked in big pots, ingredients are rice , meat and other vegetables. Hyderabadi Dum Biryani is a must try .

b)Golichina Mamsam

This is a non-veg dish , made using meat and lot of spices , these are cooked so as meat absorb all the flavours . This is spicy in taste and well known dish in telangana.

13.Sikkim

Sikkim is famous for its rich flavours. Some of the dishes are well known and are being eaten throughout india.

a) Momos( Dumplings)


Are you surprised !!!! but yes momos are originated from sikkim and today are being eaten in the whole india. These are made using white flour and filling of cabbage and other mixture. Love for momos need no explanation.

14.Orissa

Famous food of orissa are :

a) Khicede


Khicede is similar to Khichdi in north india side. Made using rice , ghee and lentils, some spices are being added to tasten, this is simple but rich nutrient food.

b)Odisha Rasagolla


Odisha Rasagolla is other name of Rasgulla originated from west bengal . This is a sweet , made using chenna and dipped in sugar syrup .
