Impact Of Coronavirus On Reastaurants And Hotels

Coronavirus has effected around 210 countries and terrotories, approximately 2490000 people are infected with this deadly disease and around 171000 people have died around the globe , if i talk particularly about India then around 15000 cases are active and around 600 people have died as and when i am writing this blog.The day to day living of citizens have halted and doctors and police are helping with there heart out to save the victims.

There are no activities taking place, needs have been restricted to only basic neccesities, people are alert and cautious regarding their health , personal disposable income has came down, each and everything has been locked down , thus this will surely impact each and every business sector and none of the industry will remain untouched from this global downfall.

So here in this blog we will tak about impact of coronavirus on restaurants and hotels.

Before coronavirus outbreak there was an emerging trend to go out and have some chills with friends , families . Sharing of coffee and making new friends, celebrating small happiness moving out in restaurants were priority.

Now as i already said demand of people has shrinked from luxuries to basic necessities, this industry will be effected more. People are understanding value of family and they prefer to cook at home rather to go outside.

There is an old saying, " An opportunity lies behind every problem" and now we can see people evolving their talents staying home sharing some beautiful pics of home cooked food on social media.

 Restaurants are open for home deliveries but people are more cautious towards their health , they will not take risk which must be the need of the hour. Now this sector is facing the problem to maintain and survive themselves as cash flows are limited, rent is a big issue and supporting thier staff members financially is also a need of the present situation.

If i talk about what is the future of this business then at present situation it is not easy to answer this question. There are two sides - 

One you can see as an optimistic person is that people are getting bored remaining inside home and they will move out when the situation gets normal and even more then earlier people will go out in restaurants and hotels to change the taste of their tastebuds.

The other side of the coin is that people will be more preventive and protective, they will not trust easily on the hygeinic conditions and will not feel safe eating outside for atleast 4-5 months and these months are crucial fir this industry.

Actually the impact will be long lasting and it will take much time to recover from loss as rent to be paid and to help humanity salaries also be given to workers. Thus there will be no income but ecpenses will incur.

Coming to big brand hotels , these depend mostly on foreign tourists and thus their occupancy will shrink from 70 -80% to as low as 20%. Work from home is being motivated , important meetings are also held through video confrencing thus booking of hotel rooms for staying are also halted.

People will stay away from travelling and holidays so this will be like a hammer on hotels.Further people will keep distance from going in crowded places, events , parties thus will add more problem as far as business is concern.

However being an optimistic person i would say , reviving process of this industry will be fast as compared to that of tourism. As the situation normalizes people will surely move out and spend small chunk of money on entertainment and restaurants.

But no one can deny that culture of dine out will be reduced . Safe and quality food will be demanded rather than cheaper food. Culture of going to clubs, having parties to celebrate small happiness will be impacted the most and priority of home made food will be on top.
